Google Chrome Announce Over 1500 Features Available on Chrome Browser

February 3rd, 2010 by

Google announced last week that a new stable release of Google Chrome has been introduced.  This new version now means that users of Google Chrome will have access to over 1,500 new features through their extension system, improving the browsing experience.

Extensions are small programs, which have been created by the developers at Google, that add useful functionality to the browsers and websites you visit.  Examples include alerts and notifications, along with easy access to your favourite web services through icons next to the address bar, and many more.

A full list of all the Google Chrome extensions can be found in their extension galley, https://chrome.google.com/extensions, where you will be able to browse through and download the ones that take your interest.  They all only take a few seconds to download and can be easily uninstalled should you change your mind on any.

In addition to these extensions, Google Chrome has introduced ‘bookmark sync’.  This development is ideal for users with several computers, for example a laptop at work and a desktop at home, as it allows you to synchronise your bookmarks across all computers, and keep them all up-to-date.

Mac users have been told to “hang tight” as Google are currently working on these developments and more to be made available to the beta version.  Users who are currently using the stable version of Google Chrome for Windows have been informed that these updates will take place automatically over the next week or so, but there is also the option to check for the updates manually.

Great! But what I’d really like Google chrome to have is a row of buttons at the top like Firefox has, namely “File”, “Edit” and so on. Without the “Edit” button you can’t “Find in this page”. This is a function I frequently use. (Note: I would stick to Firefox but all of its later versions crash!)
