Google Smartphone to be Launched in UK in April

Reports are out claiming that Search Engine Giants, Google, will be releasing their own competition to Apple’s iPhone in April. The Smartphone will be available solely through Google’s own web store.
According to the Telegraph, Vodafone will be the official provider within the UK for the Nexus One, a similar scenario to that of Google within the US, where Google is the sole outlet for the Smartphone since its release in the first week of January.
When the phone has been released in the UK, consumers will be able to get their hands on Google’s Smartphone from launch, but will have to pay in excess of £400 from third-party providers for a SIM-free model.
Google and Vodafone announced their partnership at the start, stating that Vodafone would be the sole phone operator once it was launched.
Tariff structures have not yet been specified, though reports are claiming that they will be very comparable to other Smartphones such as the iPhone.
So far in the US, the Nexus One has seen pretty limited success, where in its first week on sale, it only managed to sell 20,000 units. A reason for this may be the minimal build-up within the press and also real lack of marketing.
