Google Fast Flip Integrated Into Google News Home Page
February 10th, 2010 by Geoff
The Google News home page has seen changes this week with the integration of Google Fast Flip, the company’s new article reading service. Launched back in September, Google Fast Flip is still in Google Labs and so developments are still expected over the coming months.
The new service will collate articles from over 40 different publishes, in a bid to make online reading a more engaging experience, and to closely mirror the way readers flick through newspapers and magazines. Readers will be able to view articles that have been popular that day, ones that reflect their personal preferences or ones that have been recommended to them by friends, by simply pressing the left and right arrow keys. Clicking on the story will take the reader direct to the publisher’s website.
Back in December, Google added more than 50 newspapers, magazines, web news wires and TV and radio broadcasters which brought the total of media outlets available ion Fast Flip up to more than 90, giving readers access to a wide variety of sources. To view a full list of these you can visit: http://fastflip.googlelabs.com/sources.
A mobile version of Fast Flip has now also been made available on the iPhone and Android devices, and can be simply accessed by navigating to the Google Fast Flip homepage on the phone. Google is looking into developing support for other mobile platforms.
