Bing added on Friday, what they have called its “largest imagery update to date, adding 6.7 million square kilometres of new imagery” in another quite interesting war between Google and Microsoft.
The Bing maps have been updated to include a bird’s eye view of many European Countries, including France, Norway and Spain. As well as maps of South Africa, Botswana, Estonia and the majority of the US.
Microsoft exposed a number of eye-candy features in its ongoing competition with Google with a new series of spatial search offering enhancements.
Microsoft have also now introduced real-time video overlays to the maps and also indoor panoramas to move mapping within.
Google have also added a series of features over the past few months from Android powered turn-by-turn spoken directions for their Smartphone to Google Goggles (taking a picture of an object or location, then identifying it via search.
Microsoft stated that last Month they pushed out their largest amount of new imagery ever in terms of square kilometres and this month there is going to be much more going on. Last month, 1 million+ square kilometres of maps were uploaded and they believe that 6.7 million square kilometres will be achieved this month.
