Fashion Store Reaps Benefit of SEO with Increased Traffic and Exposure

ASOS began as a website focused on offering clothing similar to that worn by celebrities, but has since expanded to offer a wide range of trendy clothes, footwear and accessories, due to its ever increasing popularity and exposure online.
According to a new report, online clothing retailer ASOS has been found to be the most successful in the fashion sector when it comes to search engine visibility.
Research shows that ASOS had the biggest presence in search engine results for most key search queries compared with its competitors in November 2009. In terms of effective SEO campaigns and increased presence on the search engines, it suggests that ASOS’s campaign is perhaps more effective than their competitors such as House of Fraser and Debenhams.
It also reveals that UK web users made 7.1 million fashion-related searches during the month, more than double the number registered in September 2009.
For those involved in fashion search engine optimisation, the most popular fashion queries included ‘dresses’ and ‘knitwear’, as well as ‘celebrity fashion’ and ‘designer clothing’: All keywords which one will admit are not only very competitive, but also involve an extensive project would be needed in order to rank highly for them main keywords.
The research also found that within this grouping, male-oriented terms were more searched for than female ones. This means that “female consumers tended to search Google using product or brand-specific terms rather than generic fashion keywords”, it added. Again, an indicator as to how we are searching for items online in terms of whether the end user is more likely to type the brand name in, or just the product type alone.

Just shows how much people can benefit from SEO. Getting 7.1 million searches is just amazing…
Just because there was 7.1m searches doesn’t mean Asos captured all this traffic.
That is correct Jamil, however a combination of increased visibility through SEO and increased searches by double then ASOS stand highly likely to increase revenue.
