Google TV proposes to create a combination of content that has been provided over the web and Television. The idea is to watch TV while searching for companies and services, this leans towards Google trying to invade Home Entertainment systems alongside one of its partners Sony who have great market dominance within this sector.
The idea is not as original as you might think with leading electronic companies such as Apple attempting to make this blend work. Will this work who knows, I imagine it banks on whether the system is quick and easy to use. At the moment Laptop users have the ability to do what GTV (Google TV) propose, it’s whether the system provides a more effective use for multitasking.
However there is much debate on whether the whole system is being set up to deploy extra revenue through PPC and other mediums of advertising across GTV. This may actually work well as instead of switching channels once bored with a programme the Paid advertising may act as a great medium to interact with the customer. Again this depends on whether the advertising becomes dominant over the search engine. Almost every American owns a TV to date so to interrogate this with the internet means Google tapping into even more potential users, with help on the way from high profile partners Google is sure to make an impact. It is thought that GTV will use the same advertisement technique as it currently does on Google now, which allows us as a PPC & SEO Company to plan how we would manage campaigns effectively. We are also curious to see what tools Google allows us to use, as with any type of PPC you need something to accumulate your potential return on investment. Possibly and introduction of a type of Google Ad Words Tool could be implemented, it will be interesting to track how effective the estimated Click through rate will be once GTV goes live. But there is sure to be some sort of tool as it will help Google create more of an incentive, the interesting thing will be how they will track it.
