Previously SEO companies were advising clients to use their keywords heavily every where, and then in November 2003 Google made a change to their algorithm which was better known as the Florida update. The Florida update changed the face of SEO in such a way that on page optimisation become increasingly difficult and companies were using all their resources to find new strategies that would work.
Many top ranked sites found that they had dropped rankings and some had even completely disappeared. Over optimised pages are now recognised as a spammy site by Google, Keyword density is what Google uses to establish the site relevancy to the searched phrase.
Google have once again introduced a new algorithm so to ensure that your site gets the right exposure to your target audience in 2010 you need to ensure your on page Seo is focusing on relevancy.
The best strategy is to mix up your keywords for example if your page title is ‘Chester optician & optical care: Business name’ then your page heading tag should be something like ‘your friendly opticians in Chester.’
When choosing the keywords you want to target ensure that you focus on how relevant they are to the product or service your site is offering and not just the historical search volumes and results volumes. Also going for broad keywords will have a negative effect with the new Google Caffeine and personalised search system. The reason for this is that if the phrase is to broad the user is less likely to go to your site even if it appears in a good position in the results. If the site has been ignored a number of times by the user the personal search will record it as not relevant and it will not rank as high in future searches on that PC.
There are many other factors that have to be considered especially with Google’s new system and its algorithm being kept a secret so taking advice from a good Seo company like Click Consult is advised.
