Google And SEO

Above all others, Google is the search engine of choice for the SEO because they hold such a dominant market share when it comes to the number of searches conducted on the Internet. This is not only true for UK based searches but for searches from countries all around the world. This means that whether your website will be aimed solely at a UK market or an international market Google will be the big search engine to try and attract traffic from. With that said, targeting the other major search engines can still help generate a very good amount of extra traffic for your site.

High Quality Search Results

Google is especially concerned with providing high quality results to its users. They aim to do this by the provision of good quality web pages within their search results. As well as concentrating on the promotion of good results they also pay a lot of attention to removing poor quality sites from their results with particular attention paid to websites and web pages that practice what are considered black hat SEO techniques and spamming techniques.

Avoiding Unethical SEO

The fact that Google pays so much attention to the removal of spam and black hat SEO from their index it means that at least some of your SEO attention should be diverted towards ensuring that you do not inadvertently, or otherwise, use these unethical tactics; of which there are many. If you conduct your own SEO then this is easier to manage, presuming you have perform a lot of good quality research into SEO before you begin. If you use a dedicated SEO service then you must ensure that they only use ethical practices to gain you the traffic you desire.

Organic Listings

Good quality content and a powerful link profile will combine to generate the best Google SEO results. The on page content of your site is considered an indication of the topics and keywords that your website is geared towards and it can also help to improve your results. As such, writing high quality SEO content is important. Google also considers the links between keywords and the existence of semantically or topically related keywords when formulating their results so natural content that includes a good range of keywords will typically fare well.

Your Link Profile

A link profile is Google’s measurement of the number and quality of links that point to a web page. Again, the focus is on organically or ethically generated links and so Google has devalued reciprocal links as well as paid links. If they determine that any of the links directing your pages are either reciprocal or paid then they will not give these links the weight you may believe they deserve or that they would generate if they were considered high quality, natural links.

SEO And Google

It is understandable that SEOs and websites concentrate their SEO efforts on building Google traffic but the fact is that completely ignoring the other major search engines can lead to your pages missing out on a large amount of extra traffic. Fortunately, though, the search engines do largely look for similar things from web pages with good quality content and inbound links being the order of the day.
