Keywords are essential in search engine optimisation
When it comes to building a successful SEO campaign, you will agree that keywords play a major role in SEO analysis. Many people underestimate the importance of placing sufficient and efficient keywords throughout their website. What is meant by sufficient keywords is also something that is often misunderstood in that it is assumed that sufficient means placing as many keywords as you can.
While implementing enough keywords onto your site can help your search engine optimisation campaign, the problem begins when you start keyword stuffing. Keyword stuffing is a term to describe the process of selecting relevant and irrelevant keywords and placing them on your site even if its presence does not fit the rest of your content.
Why would people resort to keyword stuffing?
The whole purpose of using keywords in an SEO campaign is to allow for users to find your website. The keywords that users type into search engine’s search slot needs to correspond with the keywords dispersed throughout your site. Therefore, people feel that by keyword stuffing, they increase the possibility of users landing on their websites via search engines.
What they don’t get is that keyword stuffing seems like a good idea but could actually hurt your SEO campaign. It usually leads to quick drop offs by users and penalties by search engines. So if one should not use keyword stuffing, how do you generate traffic?
An alternative to keyword stuffing is finding the right keywords and placing them strategically. There are a number of keyword research tools available to help your SEO campaign so that you can select proper keywords.
Some of these tools are available online and allow you to research the proper key phrases so that you selection is made easier. While these tools are helpful, these aids also have their disadvantages.
The problem with keyword research tools
The number one problem with keyword research tools for SEO Analysis is that they obtain their search queries from a limited data source. This means that they only obtain a select quantity of data from a certain source. Therefore, you don’t get the complete data you require.
To illustrate this, Microsoft tools is seen as a very successful and popular keyword research tool. However, Microsoft tools obtain their data from Bing, a search engine created by Microsoft. They therefore receive their search queries only from Bing and will only be able to determine what people are searching for through what gets typed on Bing’s search slot.
While this is great, the problem is that your website will probably get most of its traffic from Google. This means that you will have obtained no keyword research form you most prominent source of traffic. This would make your entire effort of keyword researching seem pointless and really a waste of time.
The keyword research that is beneficial to you needs to come from a number of search engines. Relying on the data of one source is risky and may result in you selecting irrelevant keywords and phrases.
