SEO everywhere – it’s enough to make your head spin
April 30th, 2009 by Nick
SEO is one of those topics that many people are aware of, but not many truly understand. So many different explanations, definitions and such are available, but what makes them useless is that for the man on the street it simply does not make much sense.
As is stands, most of the available explanations of the concept of Search Engine Optimisation and all that it encompasses need you to have several degrees in order to understand a word in them. This makes dealing with anything SEO infuriating because lets face it, SEO has attained World Wide Web domination and isn’t going to relinquish its grip anytime soon.
So every corner you turn, website you visit, search engine you make use of all prescribe to the notions of SEO and you are stuck in the middle with a major headache from having technical jargon thrown at you from all sides.
Start with the basics
SEO is the implementation of a set of techniques in order to boost your page ranking in a search engine results page when a search is done. Even more plainly; Search Engine Optimisation makes your website appear as one of the first websites that a search engine throws out when you do a search. That said it is easier to understand why SEO is so important and why every website under Google’s rule has jumped onto the SEO bandwagon. Better search page ranking means better visibility for your website and increased chances of making profits for you.
Walled in by SEO
Search engine optimisation is everywhere, in every last word you use on your web pages and in everything internet. SEO was created because there are not merely millions, but rather billions of other websites that have the same or similar information as yours that are competing with you for web traffic and potential customers.
This means that something had to happen to bring order to the chaos that ensues when someone searches something through a search engine. Now, in order for your page to keep from scraping the bottom of the bucket and receive adequate attention you need to include SEO efforts in your web pages from keywords, Meta and title tag, building backlinks, content, blogs and every other aspect of your website.
People have figured out loopholes in an effort to get around SEO and the search engines are wising up to this and are evolving to include the very popularity of your website into Search Engine Optimisation. This means you have to keep pleasing the bots, crawlers and other artificial intelligence, but now you really have to put in so much more effort to impress the human visitors to boost your popularity status.
This can all be very confusing and headache inducing which is why many people go knocking on the doors of large companies that will take over the reins of the SEO efforts of that business. This leaves you with time and energy to take care of other aspects of running your business while your Search Engine Optimisation efforts are in capable hands.
