SEO – The Game
March 5th, 2009 by Nick
Game, it’s a bit of a misconception. Most people wouldn’t find the hard work involved in SEO fun, and game implies a certain level of fun. One will certainly find it difficult to find many other fields that are as diverse and competitive as this, so in that sense those who enjoy a challenge and enjoy the competitive aspect of this field most likely would see it as somewhat of a game. The skills level required to be a really great Search Engine Optimisation specialist is excessively vast. It is easy to grasp the foundational tasks and implement them, but the better your site gets the more precise your skills need to be and the more difficult it is to see a result.
Sizzling is quite an accurate word to use, as if it wasn’t just the speed at which this filed changes that makes things hot enough to sizzle it would be the pressure of achieving the goals that would make most sweat. There are millions of dollars spent on major companies SEO Strategies and the competition is ridiculously competitive. But for most people learning about SEO is not so that they can figure out what their consultant is talking about, most people are trying to read up on it and learn enough to start using the techniques on their own small business websites or even their blogs. The basic fact is anyone can do it, but few can do it exceptionally well.
Decision, decisions
When deciding to join this high speed version of the rat race, one needs to first establish the cost implications involved. Due to the state of the global economy many people are starting to look for long cost high return areas of their marketing and sales strategies, this can be such an area. But then again its not as easy as that, there are a million aspect to consider, some of the smallest being, outsource or in house, redesign or adapt, on-page or off. There are so many things that need to be taken into account, the most obvious being whether or not you want to pay someone to do it, try it yourself or employ someone full time in your business to undergo this task. It is not a one month cost regardless of the choice you make. It is an ongoing task that will become a monthly cost to your business.
There is more then enough information on the internet for anyone with enough time and enough inclination to become thorough in all the SEO Techniques, but it certainly will take time. Unfortunately it isn’t a field that is stagnant like history, where you know that you can learn something that everyone has learnt for the last fifty years and you will know it will be relevant for the next fifty. This is a industry that changes daily, that evolves faster then you blink, there are people coming up with new things every day that improve their websites over yours.
