The link between high page back links and SEO

August 6th, 2009 by

Back links are important for your search engine optimization efforts. They are testament to the popularity of your website and they can enhance your website’s reputation. That is if you link from the best websites out there. If you link from websites with poor reputations they will take your reputation down to their level or lower.

Search engine optimisation is important for your page ranking and building back links is therefore also really good with pushing your page rank up too. It is important to improve your SEO through beneficial back links from other websites. High page ranking websites are great for back links and add even more value to your optimization.

Choose highly ranking web pages

When you choose a website to post a back link on, you need to make sure of its high page rank before you make a decision or enter into any decisions. If there are 20 pages to your chosen website but only 1 is ranked highly you need to post your link on that specific page. Posting your link on any one of the other web pages of that website will not help you one bit. The idea behind posting high page rank back links is that the high optimization ranking of that web page will carry on over to your own linked web page. If you link to a page that has not got a high page rank you will achieve nothing much in the attempt to raise your own rank.

Make your links relevant

Even though Google knows that links is all about volume and having the back links, visitors to your linked site are not going to click on your link simply to afford you a better ranking. That is why it is important to your search engine optimization that you choose to post links on relevant sites.

Choosing relevant high page rank sites to post back links on will doubly increase your own optimization. It does this by the high page rank of the linked page influencing your own rank. Secondly, choosing relevant sites to link to increases traffic through those links. Increased traffic means better ranking in the SERPs.

Don’t try to compete with every single website

Yes, there are websites on the first pages of search engine search results that have literally thousands of back links from other websites. That is partially why they are ranked as highly as they are. Trying to compete with all the websites out there is a senseless and futile effort. You only need to concentrate on one specific target group of websites to compete with.

As far as your back links go, you only need to compete with a select group of competitor websites. Those websites are the ones that have back links that use the exact same keyword or keyword phrase in their anchor text that you do. Seriously; those are the only websites you need to compete with as far as back link SEO goes.
