Everyone wants a website and everyone wants to find the cheapest possible ways to promote their websites. It is the most ingrained factor into the psyche of every entrepreneur to want to make the best possible profit for the least amount of money expended. This of course brings us to search engine optimisation practices. It is a fact of life that without the best possible optimisation a business website will simply disappear off the radar.

The online business world is simply too intensely competitive for any business neglecting optimum optimisation. Yes, here you could probably save some money by going to the dark side. You could indulge in black hat optimisation and then also be ready to accept the consequences. Search engines have evolved and got smart. They are busy making life extremely difficult for anyone who tries to scam them and manipulate the search engine results.

They will keep changing the algorithms to get rid of scammers and give honest entrepreneurs a fair chance. So, we all accept the fact that a fully optimised website and indexed web pages are part of website promotion. Many website owners add Pay Per Click advertising to their arsenal of getting out there and boosting their ranking. PPC is an excellent way to promote a website if focussed on a highly targeted audience. However, here again a PPC campaign can become costly. There are two options for promoting your website that is extremely cheap and should absolutely be added to your normal promotion methods. Using these two methods give you an excellent opening to get visitors to hand over their money or information willingly. In the tough economic climate we all face at the moment, any cheapie is not to be ignored under any circumstances.

The Blogosphere

Long gone are the days when blogging was where you shared information and gossiped with your friends. It has evolved into integral part of many business websites and is used as an ongoing place to promote your business, products and services. It is an excellent tool to generate traffic from a relaxed platform where interaction is encouraged. Whereas your official website is far more formal. Your blog lets you discuss anything related to your business. It is a very good way to direct traffic to your official website and build excellent links. Blogging does not involve a financial outlay; the only cost is your time and effort. People love blogs and a wise businessman knows a good change and makes use of it.

Article directories

Article marketing is an excellent way to generate traffic to your website. As long as you know your stuff and do it right, this is a great way to promote your website. Article marketing will not work though is you present inferior and mediocre content. Submitting well written and informative articles to directories can bring a marked increase in traffic and back links. Here again the cost will be minimal. The most cost being your effort, makes article marketing worthwhile to look into.
