Google emails out users private details

Posted by David Edwards on 11 July 2012

Google last night accidentially publicly shared a 'Power Searching with Google' user's private details when replying to their customer service email.

Roger, a Google user from Spain, sent Google a customer service email asking if 'Power Searching with Google' was available in Spanish. Google's reply to Roger's questions was inadvertantly emailed to mulitple other users. Roger's full name, email adress, phone number and address were posted in plain text at the bottom in the signature of the email for everyone to see.

See the email below:

Two of our programmer who signed up for the Google search course receieved this email late last night, so God knows how widespread this is is. This is a pretty major cock-up for Google though - this Roger guy is probably going to be be pretty popular today.

Did anybody else get this email? It would be great if we could get an idea about how widespread this is.
