SEO is worth its weight in gold
June 16th, 2009 by Richard
With a bit of knowledge SEO can be conducted, successfully. There are huge amounts of information sites on the WWW offering tips and methods, techniques and how-to articles.
Yet, there it is often half done.
Just as the letter A is important in any telephone directory because it gets you listed first, this can be related to SEO too. If the name of your company comes up first in the listings chances are your site will be visited first, and if that visitor finds what they need they wont look any further. Voila.
SEO is cumbersome though and it can take more effort than is deemed to be worth. There are no shortcuts, and yes it is difficult to perform. In the past it was sufficient to write content rich in SEO keywords, but that is no longer sufficient and it involves a lot more factors today.
Rankings could be bought, yet not as much anymore. It is a far better thing to devote resources to enhancing your site in line with SEO criteria than to fork out incredibly ridicules amounts of money to a search engine.
Change with the times
It has been proven that if a company has a higher ranking in a search engine their revenue increase. This is due to increased traffic. Another benefit of increased traffic is branding. The more visitors are introduced to your branding, the more interest it generates, and you start growing awareness of your products.
Small companies have grown in this way to large, viable concerns over a short time, at least shorter than if they relied on alternative, non web based marketing campaigns. This increase in market awareness and revenues tied together with decreased overheads is what has made e-commerce the way of the future. It is not going anywhere, ever! It is time to make the decision to get ‘with the program’ if you want your company to find that pot of gold at the end of the rainbow!
The past
There has been a phenomenal increase in the amount of transactions made on the internet, in a very short time. The result is that companies who rely on foot traffic past their store front are suffering. So too are companies who have relied on word of mouth, you know those ‘old school ‘companies who feel they don’t need the internet to do business, perhaps they feel their customers wont know how to use it. Whatever their reasons, they will pay the price.
People buy on impulse and never more than now that they can sit in the comfort of their home, any time of the day, click a few buttons, surf a few sites and find amazing things to buy. They don’t have to rush out at lunchtime or shop over the weekend anymore.
The internet is producing a customer base that was not there before. It will also produce a much higher volume of potential future customers as well.
If a new company started showing profits within the first six months of business they considered themselves successful. This timetable drops when a company is doing business over the internet, but you have to be noticed and the best way to get noticed is to start an SEO campaign.
