White Hat Optimization

If an SEO technique supports the integrity of a search engine it is considered White Hat.  White hat tactics are the only methods that are able to further the quest for high rankings and good reputation.

Internal Linking

If a search engine spider cannot navigate through a website it won’t be ranked.  However even though fancy drop down navigation menus are include by many websites, the scripts they use actually prevent crawling.  The result is that a website ends up with many pages that are not indexed.

In order for spiders to navigate via these scripts it is vital that text links are added at the bottom of a homepage, at least.  This will act as a linking system to all other internal pages.  Including a sitemap is however the best option.

Linking Reciprocally

The exchange of relevant links with other webmasters is the best way of providing links to a website.  Exchanging links with thousands of sites is however not a good idea.  Link exchange needs to be done carefully and intelligently.  Linking to site that are related to your niche market is by large far preferable.  They should contain keywords that you are targeting.  If you are linking to bad neighbourhoods you might find yourself being penalized.

Reciprocal linking is time consuming yet it is a method that can catapult your rankings.

Creating Content

Content should never encompass doorways pages, hidden text or duplicate content.  It should be unique and interesting. Content rich WebPages are able to get your site listed in search engines.  Webmasters will be more likely to link to your site and you will gain the reputation of being a valuable subject content provider.

It is time consuming but it has the ability to help target keywords related to your subject or product.

Optimizing your website

The backbone of SEO is attaining high positioning on a search engines results list.  This includes using every ethical method available to do so.  From Meta tags to solid and relevant titles to good content.  Each technique you choose to add to your SEO should focus on maximizing the effectiveness of furthering higher rankings.

It is important in the process not to lose focus on the message or quality of content from a human point of view.  Even if you are driving hoards of traffic to your site if you don’t have anything to offer once they are there, what is the point?  You won’t sell anything and you won’t increase revenues.  SEO has to understand the saleabity of a website while catering for maximum exposure on a search engine.

Writing content for the benefit of the reader

Content is a good way to share your knowledge with others.  Whatever form you choose to do so is a vehicle.  Creating content that people want to read or content that encourages people to buy or take action is what SEO is about.

It is also the best way to encourage and grow links to your site without the onus being on reciprocal linking.
