Achieving Inbound links and their importance in SEO

January 8th, 2008 by

Any webmaster is aware of the significance of incoming links to their site, having links from good PR sites is a massive boost for your overall results in the Search Engine results Page. There are a number of methods that are available to build a good linking strategy for your site.
Directory submission

There are literally thousands of directories and portals that are free to submit to, these can generate many links of small value, which will not gain any traffic but will give a new site a good foundation to start from. It’s a time consuming job submitting to every single one, but there are sites that will do multiple submissions for free or for a small fee. The most popular free directory is DMOZ or the Open Directory Project, this is highly regarded as the definitive free directory as only selected sites are accepted in, each site being vetted by an editor. If you can get in to DMOZ guaranteed PageRank and traffic can be expected.

Similar to this is the Paid directories, all having slightly higher worth and available PR to be passed to your site, costs can range from £10 to £200 and this is not even a guaranteed submission. All directories are useful because if you add an informative creative then verticals are more likely to find your site and link to you.
Paid Links

Paid links are perhaps as controversial as internet marketing and SEO gets! With Google cracking down on link farming and spamming, the worth of links has gone down and the value of good quality links has gone up. Now having a few good links as opposed to hundreds of poor ones is much more beneficial.
Article Submission

Article writing has long been an art form, and this is pretty much acknowledged through search. If you write and submit an informative article and submit it through a social bookmarking page or blog then it will get linked to, and if it gets linked to then that is good quality, valued link to your site.

There is also article directories which can hold great value, if your article is worthwhile then the more links it will generate.

Web spiders view these links as a vote of popularity for your site, the more links the more authority you have on your chosen subject and keywords, this is when your site will start rank first page without too much trouble. For more information contact SEO Consult today.
