Take your share of the Market
Know how the tough stuff works. If certain information is hard to find, it will make it easier for you to get a good corner of the market by being able to supply this information, but make sure it is quality information though. Make sure you are well informed and that you have the answers to those ‘ultimate’ answers.
Whether new or existing readers you have to get a feel for what they are passionate about. If you know what makes them tick you will be able to supply them with that which will keep their interest. It is also imperative to stay true to your promises. If you promise your readers sometime, supply it, on time. Don’t give them any opportunity to jump ship. Remember too that what you find riveting may not be what your readers find interesting. It is not only about you.
Be Sociable
If you want to create social networks, don’t use silly code names for yourself, use your full name as this will help build a good reputation for your site. Subscribing to various Social Networking sites will increase your social circle. Interact with your readers! Interacting will develop loyal relationships which will result in loyal links. Chat and allow comments, even set up a Forum for this purpose.
It is also a good idea to create ‘real’ relationships with your peers, so at every opportunity attend conferences and meet people, look at their sites and if you are interested in what they have to say, link into them and let them link into yours. You may end up with an entirely new reader base.
You have to ensure that you post consistently and frequently, never forgetting quality though. This will ensure you develop a good following. Also take into account how long it might take a reader to reader an article, so make sure that your articles vary in length so that you can please all readers. Always keep in mind that Blogging contains sins that you must be aware and if you are to remain respected in the blogging arena don’t use blogging as a ‘free for all’ space where you can write what you wish. You want to make genuine friends with those who are respected, if not influential, in our niche. Their links will be of great benefit to you as you will be able to learn from each other and perhaps even link to each other.
Be part of the World Wide Web
Secondly, try to reach a national or even world wide audience. Try not to focus your knowledge locally. You never know where your next customer is coming from, and it is also good to get another type of perspective. Also, don’t get stuck in a rut that comes from writing about the same thing, broaden your horizons. Often this happens when you invite differing opinions and perspectives, which starts a new train of thought, and things go from there. People care about things that affect both themselves and others, and they love to talk about it. Give them what they want – stay in tune with what is happening in the world.
