The statement ‘SEO as a band-aid’ may be a little misleading so let’s clear it up. SEO is not a band-aid for a website gone wrong, poor content and many other ills. Oh no, SEO is not a miracle worker that can rectify that kind of problem. However, it can help you heal business relationships when things go sour between your business and customers or clients. There are several ways in which you can do this, but how effective your tactics will be all comes down to how effective your optimization is.

Credibility on the internet

Websites are wholly dependant on good credibility. Without it, nobody will want to visit your website. One of the best ways to build credibility for your own business website is building links with other quality websites. Building links with low grade websites does your own credibility no good, in fact it will actually tarnish your credibility.

Link building is an SEO tactic that many professionals use to increase your overall rank from the beginning. However, this can also come in handy when undoing the damage you may have caused your business reputation. The SEO experts can then use these powerful and important bridges to promote your credibility even more to combat the damage done.

Get social and get blogging

Social networks have all but claimed world domination. A large percentage of people around the globe belong to some or other social media and social networking website. With the popularity of these social networking websites, it has become possible to put your business on there too. Many of these social media websites, such as Facebook, allow you to create a page for your business.

In so doing, you get exposure and promotion on the social networking web. You can use this web to post comments and even apologise or make statements to do damage control. As far as Blog Integration goes, it is pretty much the same. You can use your business blog to apologise, make statements and do general damage control when things go sour.

Managing your online reputation

Search engine optimization and online reputation management are two completely different things yet opposites attract here and they need to work together for you to successfully do damage control. These two factors of online website management need to work hand in hand in order to keep your reputation high.

While both are working well together and you are doing as much as possible to keep them functioning in tip-top shape, they do loads for your reputation. This is very helpful when things go bad and you need to undo the damage caused to your reputation. There is no better way to combat damage to your business’ online reputation than to have a very good one to start off with. Think about this.

If a company with a poor reputation makes a mess of things and apologises, they are not going to get very far. However, if a company with an excellent reputation does the same and apologises, they are likely to be forgiven. It is all about getting people to like you and staying in their good books.
