Add seasoning to spice up your blog

May 1st, 2009 by

We all know that blogs are big news. Your blog is your alternative website and as such needs all the careful attention you give to your official website. After all, why are you blogging if it is not to be seen and read by others? Now, your blog has huge competition and if you want it to succeed you have to spice things up. Take a critical look at your blog; look at it from the viewpoint of an outside reader.

Ask yourself what about the blog is good or bad. See if you can find reasons anyone would want to subscribe to your particular blog. Is there any attention grabbing visuals and information that makes your blog a shining light or not?

Emotions and ideas

The most important thing about a blog is that it should affect the readers. Blogs are social creatures, interactive and emotional. What will make your blog unique is when you stir people up. This may be through excitement, sadness, interest or anger. Your blog tells people what you think and feel and they want to respond. The emotions you provoke are the needed seasoning to make your blog unusual and attract readers. Now combine emotions with innovative and new ideas and you spice things up brilliantly. No-one will bother coming back to your blog if they find nothing new to spark their interest.

Design and style is the salt needed

The design of your website or blog is the first thing people see. First impressions are lasting, this is what people will remember. You have about 10 seconds to impress a visitor enough to make him or her stay. That is an incredibly short period of time to make or break your online visibility. Salt your blog well with a consistent and exceptional design that you combine with your own distinctive writing style.

Your blog design and writing style must scream your branding loud and clear. Be unforgettable; it matters not so much whether people like or dislike your design and writing style. Many good blogs are popular because they irritate people or get them thinking about what on earth you are going to come up with next.

Being real is the spice container of your blog

Blogs are highly social, interactive and join people together through shared interests. You as the blogger need to be real to your readers. Coming across as some faceless and nameless administrator plodding along spells doom for any blog. To blog successfully you as a person speaks to, not customers, but friends. Blogging takes your business blog to a personal level.

This is the way to get your blog noticed in the social media. Know who your niche audience is; you speak to them directly, not to a general and vague audience. Social media has become incredibly powerful and you will build invaluable links through this if you are serious about your blog. To blog successfully, you must spice things up to create appeal and interest.
