Creating and implementing a successful SEO strategy is not a short term and by no means easy task. And if one is considering undertaking such a task with no prior knowledge or understanding of SEO then it will be significantly more difficult, and positive results will take longer to appear.

It is understandable that many business and leaning towards attempting this in house, rather then out sourcing as the business in the current economic climate are realising that they need to watch ever little expenditure. But one needs to way up the cost-benefits before deciding to go the DIY SEO route.

There certainly isn’t a lack of information and knowledge out on the internet, but thorough research is essential as there are many wrong ways of doing this, and it is up to you to research sufficiently before beginning because undoing what has been done wrong can prove more costly then the budget may allow.

There are several elements that need to be done correctly in order for them to benefit the website, The choosing of keywords is harder then one might first imagine. It would be extremely hard to break into an already competitive market, especially with over-competitive words, so choosing less competitive yet relevant words is the key.

Then it is essential to re-write the content of your page, but the balance that needs to be reached is that one needs to appeal to both the users as well as including material that will catch the proverbial eye of the search engines. This is not easy but with practice and research it can be achieved.

One aspect of SEO is to try and write a blog of your site or industry, the problem with this is that in order for this to be effective one needs to write several informative, interesting key word sprinkles, articles a week. It is essential to realise ones limitations. Do you have the time, and skill to write such articles, and more importantly does your industry have the range in order for you blogs to not run dry after the first month?

The question that needs to be addressed before planning and implementation but after significant research is ‘Can I do this as well as a SEO company? Or am I wasting my time and effort?’.
