Does Your Website Need Updating?

April 10th, 2010 by

Creating and developing a website for your business can be a long and hard process. Once finished and online, many business owners stop thinking about changing and adding new content to their web pages. This can be disadvantageous in many ways.

You must always ensure your website is relevant, fresh and up to date. You want your visitors to find your website professional and modern and so you must ensure the content within your site is too.

Regularly visit your web site and explore the different web pages you have. Read the content within them and assess the quality and relevancy of the information present. Is some of the content outdated? Are your web pages still relevant? Will visitors to your website still find this information useful? These are important questions you should be considering as you read through the content within your site.

Look out for any improvements which can be made. Small changes and additions can make a big difference. Constantly look for any way you can make your site better. Making it better for your users will help you to attract them to your web pages and you need this traffic if your online business is to be a success.

Many business owners often have relevant information they can add to their website but just don’t realise it. A new product launch, a new member of staff joining your team, an award or an achievement are all types of information which can be added to your site. To do this, you must ensure your website layout is prepared.

Help make it easier for you to add content to your site by the web pages you have. Create a company news page, a blog, an About Us page and you will instantly know where information should be located within your website. Knowing where to start can be the difficult thing but with good design and organisation, it will be clear what type of content you should be posting where.

Updating your website as much as you can will show your visitors your site is current and up to date. Stale and boring websites featuring outdated information are an immediate deterrent for searchers. Show your visitors you are on the ball by providing them with useful and fresh information.

Regular updates to your site will also attract the attention of the search engines. The web crawlers from the search engines are constantly looking for new content. If you add new content to your web pages on a regular basis this will encourage them to visit and explore your website. The more they do this, the greater chance you will have of your website being ranked highly in the search results.

At SEO Consult, we optimise the websites of our clients appropriately when running an SEO campaign and update their sites as much as possible. Work with us to ensure your website is fresh, useful and relevant and you will attract the attention and interest of the search engines and your target audience too.
