Search Engine Optimisation is the Foundation For Your Website Build
May 16th, 2009 by Nick
One of the greatest frustrations that any SEO consultant can experience in life is having to try and optimise a website after it has gone live. Clients are not happy in the least when their SEO consultant has to explain to them that their very expensive website is a problem.
Many people find it difficult to understand that they went about things butt over kettle. They should not have had their website built until they had their SEO foundation. The majority of people do not have an in-depth knowledge of how SEO works. This means they get frustrated and angry when told it will take more money and lots of fixing to optimise their website afterwards.
Don’t build your house on sand
You cannot build your house until the foundation has been laid. Trying to squeeze a foundation in after the walls have been built can be a tad problematic. This would also cost you a fortune. It is the same with optimising your website. If you call your SEO consultant in before you have your new website designed, you start out with a foundation. Thus, when you start looking for a web designer, ask a few questions.
Do they have an Search Engine Optimisation expert on their staff? If not, it is wise that an SEO consultant is outsourced. The consultant must be on board throughout the architecture development of your website as well as for the code insertion. The SEO consultant must be part of this foundation building, or your website will be built on sand.
Re-doing is hugely expensive
If the website has already been developed without the input of an SEO expert, it means starting all over again. What it means is that your beautifully designed website will have to be ripped to shreds and redone. This is a total waste of time and money you should not have to go through. The wasted money can be used to much better effect for other aspects of your business.
The list is ever-long of things that must be changed to optimise your website after it has been built. The problem for your business is that if these things are not attended to you basically have a dead website that cannot rank properly.
Back to the beginning
In laymen’s terms, think of the architect that draws up the plan when you build a house. Without exact plans from the architect, how can you ever build a well-constructed house? Thus your SEO consultant equals your architect. The web designer is therefore the contractor who will build you that perfect house. The only way your website can be built perfectly is to mesh the talents of your SEO consultant and your web designer.
It is far more cost effective for your budget if you do things in the right order. First the foundation and from there on the rest of your website will be built perfectly. It has never been a good idea to put the cart before the horse. So do it right the first time and save yourself much frustration and a heap of money.
