The biggest directories will have huge audiences and therefore will provide you with the greatest chance of exposure and traffic. There are also an increasing number of smaller directories relevant to specific business industries and listing your business in a directory like this can be advantageous too.

Social networking websites are also becoming more and more important to the majority of internet users. A large number now visit social networking sites on a regular basis. They share information of all sorts and develop bonds and relationships with others within the social networking communities.

    Do you mean initially when a new site is added to Google? If so then yes, quite simply: get links to your site. Commenting on this blog will have helped (not that you should spam blog comments though!).

    Even getting nofollow links to your site will help as Google crawls nofollow links but doesn’t pass authority over to the target site.
