SEO support from the foundation up

October 25th, 2009 by

Many website owners think that SEO is a magic remedy for all their problems. They think that they can give their website a dose of SEO tonic and all will go well. Unfortunately it does not work that way. Optimization is a long and hard struggle to the top and the you have to fight tooth and nail to stay there. Doing SEO on your website is like creating a masterpiece. If your canvas is moth eaten and stained, your masterpiece is not going to come out as such. On the contrary, you will end up with a half cooked job instead. What does that mean to you? It means that you need to start with SEO when your website is nothing but a blank canvas.

Starting on a pristine canvas

Your search engine optimization starts with the building of your website. Every aspect thereof needs to be tailored to easy optimization. This is one reason why your optimizer and your web designer need to work hand in hand on the creation of your new website. The better your website structure caters to SEO, the easier it will be to maintain, tweak and upgrade your optimization as you go along.

Everything starts with web design. Your web design needs to be fully optimized for both your human and your engine visitors. Make sure that all imagery has tags, make sure that keywords are used strategically and well. Those are all steps to creating a perfectly optimized and ‘optimizable’ website. Next comes the content that you put onto your website, be it imagery or text. Optimize your content with text links, keywords and more. If you can make sure that your website has SEO support from the time that it is nothing but a blank canvas, you are well on your way to having a superbly optimized website.

Start basic and build up

Many people are very excited to have their new website under construction and well on its way to it online debut. However, this enthusiasm and excitement may cause you to want to rush things along. This is a very bad idea.

If you do not take the time to build a website that is built for and caters to SEO, you cannot change all of that afterward. Well, you may be able to but it will take more effort, time and money than it will to do it right from the start. Make sure that the basics are in place and that they are optimally optimized, Then you can start adding extras like a blog and many others.

Statistics don’t lie

The importance of foundation level optimization is not a fabrication to get you to use our services. There are literally billions of websites on the internet today and of the billions of people on this planet, more than half have internet access on a daily basis.  Of all those billions of internet users, about 9 out of every ten will find the websites they visit through search engine searches. Furthermore, more than 50% of all online sales are from search engine generated traffic. All of these vital statistics point to the importance of SEO for your website.
