Those ever hungry search engines
May 20th, 2009 by Dan
Search engines are ravenous; they never get to a stage where they are sated. They want more and more content, but they are not interested in stale and mediocre content. They want content that gives information and it must be relevant information. Search engines do not even see your beautiful graphics; it simply does not exist for them. Content is their staple diet and if what you feed them is not the ‘nutrition they need’ they will go look for it somewhere else.
Search engines react exactly like humans when they are confronted with literally millions of choices; they immediately want to know which of these are the best. Their answer to this is that the best websites are those that have the most information that is relevant and accurate.
The purpose of content
The reason you need good content- is so that the search engines will give you a higher rating in the search results pages and so that when users have been to your website that they like it enough to come back again. You want users to recommend your website to others because of its good content. You also want your content to be so good that others will want to link with your website, because the more popular your website is, the more visible your website will be to the web crawlers. It is not difficult at all to get good web content; you write it yourself.
If you do not have the skills to do this, you employ good copy writers to do it for you. Good web content is all the content written by strategically including your specific keywords and keyword phrases that searchers will use during searchers that will lead them to your website.
All it takes is thorough planning
You start by determining the exact keywords and keyword phrases you need to attract your target audience. Your keywords are those specific words determined by the demographics of the people that make up your target audience as to gender, age, location and specific interests. Then you or a skilled web content writer will use your chosen keywords and weave them strategically throughout all your web content to maximize their impact. The secret of using keyword optimisation is to work thoroughly; starting with your keywords right from the top in the headings, titles and your hyperlinks.
You literally work with a tick list and make sure that your keywords are inserted in every single place across each page of your website where they will be picked up by the search engine crawlers. The trick though is to be able to do this without it sounding mechanical, because the crawlers will see it as meaningless keyword stuffing.
Throughout all these strategies you must be able to offer your visitors content that is informative, well written and interesting enough to grab their attention. It is only once you are able to bring all of this together that the magic happens and you can consider that you are succeeding with your SEO efforts.
