Three things you don’t want to hear from your SEO company

July 21st, 2010 by

If you are not highly experienced and knowledgeable in the area of SEO, it is vital to work with a professional SEO company when running an SEO campaign. The company you choose to work with is of great importance and this decision must be made carefully. There are many different SEO services available and the quality of these services can vary a lot. This means you must take your time and carry out some research before agreeing to become a client of an SEO firm.

It is vital that you find an ethical, respectable and competent SEO company to work with if you are ever to have a chance of achieving SEO success. When exploring different companies and what they can offer you, there are three things you definitely do not want to hear from them.

You don’t want to hear that the company can get your website listed on the first page of Google in just a matter of days. Whilst high rankings do play a significant role in SEO and it can be hugely beneficial to be ranked on the first page of Google, SEO cannot ensure this in such a short amount of time.

Due to the nature of search engine optimisation, guarantees of this kind should not be given and if they are, the company is likely untrustworthy. An SEO campaign can improve your rankings but cannot assure you a top spot because so many factors are involved and are continuously changing. A respectable SEO company will explain this to you.

The second thing you don’t want to hear from an SEO firm is that there are some black hat SEO methods which could benefit your business. Black hat SEO is not productive and is not acceptable. The SEO community and the search engines are cracking down on those using unethical SEO making it a complete waste of time.

There aren’t any black hat SEO methods which are useful for a business. Using methods of this kind will result in penalties from the search engines, a damaged reputation and the waste of time and money.

An SEO company which can really help your business will only use white hat SEO and will not encourage you to use black SEO methods at all.

The third thing you don’t want to hear is that the quality of your campaign will depend on your budget. Every SEO campaign is different and requires a different approach. Some businesses need to spend a considerable amount on SEO and some do not. Just because you don’t have a big budget however does not mean SEO can’t help you. Professional SEO consultants will be able to tailor a campaign to your needs and budget so improvements are made. If a company is immediately claiming SEO will cost a great deal, be extremely wary of them.

It is of great importance to find the best possible SEO service when running an SEO campaign. We at SEO Consult run a high quality SEO firm and offer our clients the very best.

The fourth thing you don’t want to find from an SEO company is that they’re only at the top of the search results because they’re paying the biggest amount of money to Google for a sponsored listing.

I always find it amazing just how many SEO companies pay for sponsored listings, with natural organic results nowhere to be found within the fist few pages of results.

Before committing to an SEO company, find out how well they’re doing themselves.

I always think it is amusing when some SEO companies cold call my clients saying that “we can get you to the top of Google” as they never actually say for what search term(s) and why. i.e very few seem to actually research what terms are actually used and even fewer bother to check the existing position. e.g I was recently cold called by a company offering my company “top of Google” positioning………I am top of Google for “marketing company bath” etc!!!!
