Visitor Oriented Search Engine Optimisation

October 8th, 2008 by

When concentrating on SEO and gaining better search engine positions it can be all too easy to get wrapped up in building links and tweaking on page optimisation to remember that the human visitors your website are the ones that will be making you money, not the search engine spiders. Fortunately, a lot of SEO is naturally geared towards the creation of high quality content that is desirable to all visitors because this is exactly the type of content that the search engines themselves want to promote in their result pages.

Search Engine Goals

The ultimate goal of the search engines, when one of their users conducts a search, is to provide a list of relevant websites that are filled with high quality content. They go to great lengths in order to try and prevent spam, irrelevant, and low quality sites from gaining good ground within their index and, consequently, look for high quality content. In order to judge the quality of content and wheedle out the detrimental pages they employ algorithms that consider hundreds of on page and off page elements to formulate their search engine rankings.

Natural Website Content

Keyword usage, placement, and density are among the most important on page factors but more recently search engines have begun to give added weight to sites that use a good selection of semantically related SEO keywords too. As well as considering the actual content of your web pages, the search engines also use links gained from other pages as a mark for your website. The more links, and the higher quality of the links a page gets the more value it is perceived to offer and the better the rankings.

Semantics

SEO that appears natural by using semantically related keywords, as well as primary and supplementary keywords, and generates a good selection of high quality links will typically perform well in the search engines. As such, writing natural content that visitors will also benefit from is one of the key factors in SEO success but also in general success for your website. By providing this high quality content you are also giving other Webmasters and online publishers a reason to link to your site assisting in the link generation side of SEO.

The Truth About SEO

Websites have come to rely on SEO to provide a good level of high quality, well targeted traffic to their website. As such, they also become wrapped up in trying to figure out short cuts or tips and tricks that will help them rank higher. The simple truth of SEO, though, is that there are no short cuts or tricks that offer prolonged success in the search engine rankings; hard work and natural content will go a long way though.

Natural Websites

Natural content will lead to more conversions and a greater degree of trust from your visitors. As such, this means you won’t just stand to potentially generate more visitors to a website but you will also improve profits, benefit from more naturally given links, and generally enjoy a more successful website performance.
