What are the benefits of Ethical Search Engine Optimization?

Quick way – Black Hat
The industry is full of quick fixes and just plain lies. For anyone, not just the new comers, SEO can be filled with contradiction and misinformation and easy (out of search guideline) rules. The fact is there are shortcuts to improve your rankings, these shortcuts usually don’t last long and don’t benefit you in the long run. When you trick the engines you are more then likely going to be tricking the users, and that never converts into productive traffic, there is no point on getting 1000 hit a day when the average time on your sight is 6 seconds!
Don’t use keywords in Meta tags, it just doesn’t help. Making multiple copies of your site wont help, its just Annoying, and most prevalent at the moment is masses and masses of keywords being dumped into text, pretend (badly pretending) to be genuine useful text. The day when loads of keyword in your website led to more hits is over. There are way more tricks then there is time to mention them, but basically following the search engine guidelines and you will have a better site, don’ and you risk annoying users or worse having your site blacklisted.
Good way – White Hat
The webmaster, technicians and more importantly the users themselves are getting smarter, the online communities like Stumble and Digg it are growing more and more popular everyday, and their main objective is to find really good useful accurate sites. Search engines like Google have realized this and are starting to put more emphasis on such rankings.
The very technical look at quality SEO involves; Information Architecture, Server Side Issues, Code Optimization, Other channel marketing that affects SEO (social media, news search, blog search, etc), Ongoing Content Development, Search Marketing Strategy, Benchmarks, Competitive Analysis, Keyword Analysis, and most importantly/easiest to adopt is Creative Copy Writing and Web Design & User Experience.
Benefits or choosing the Right
In simple terms, to be ranked highly, you need coherent useful content, well placed, selective keywords, applicable helpful headings and subheadings, and easy to use website design and links that are relevant and useful to your user. If you use all of those then you will not only have a highly ranked site but you will also have more users enjoying your site, telling other, via blogs or social communities.
The time in which having a million links on your site improved you rankings has long moved on, now engines are looking not merely at links but link applicability. So, when you have a useful site, people will link to you, and these links will be worth more in a Google algorithm than any amount of random useless links will. Your goal is to get visitors to your site, search engines want to show users how to find your site, its in yours, engines and users best interest to follow the guidelines and improve sites, link and content overall.
