Semantic Keywords And SEPS for Search Engine optimisation

July 26th, 2008 by

The semantic web is one that is based on topically related keywords rather
than individual keywords. A page that is optimised for several topically, or
semantically, related keywords will usually generate better results than one
that is heavily optimised for a single keyword. As part of the optimisation
process, a marketer needs to consider what the search engines believe to be
semantically related keywords for a page.

What Are SEPS?

A Search Engine Presumed Synonym (SEPS) is a word or phrase that is directly
linked in meaning and topic to your keyword. Google and the other search engines
use these SEPS to help them determine whether a page offers a broad complement
of information on a topic and, therefore, whether it offers real value to visitors.

SEPS Research

There are numerous tools to determine SEPS for your keywords. Some of the
work can be done manually by determining those related keywords that are most
likely to be considered related to your primary keyword. However, the search
engines themselves provide the best resource, which can be accessed using the
appropriate operators.

Search Engine Semantic Indexes

Each search engine uses its own semantic index. A semantic index is essentially
a dictionary, or thesaurus, of related terms. These related terms may not be
the same between the various search engines and may be different to what you
would consider a reasonable synonym.

SEPS And Search Engine Optimisation Keyword Research

Because of the differences between search engines it can pay dividends to
conduct thorough keyword research for each one. Naturally written content will
instinctively contain some SEPS, and organically generated links will usually
offer a good range of keywords that, again, use naturally generated SEPS. However,
good keyword research should also include the appropriation of these synonyms
to help elevate your search engine rankings and improve traffic levels.

  1. Faith says:

Search engines are essential for improving your organic website placement. Latent semantic indexing is a process that determines the way search engines associate words. Instead of keywords stuffing I mean adding your keywords numerous times to inflate the importance of your pages. It would be beneficial for your site on the web.

  2. Joshua says:

Latent semantic indexing from a strategic prospective and using it in conjunction with long-tail search engine optimization, it is invaluable tool that provides keyword-rich suggestions for content, descriptions or titles for your website or blog. Search engines believe to be semantically related keywords for a page.

  3. Ethan says:

SEPS is short form of Search Engine Presumed Synonym and are those keywords that the search engines believe to be semantically related to another keyword. While there are tools and applications available to provide you with this information, Google itself provides a perfectly good tool towards this end.

  4. Madison says:

SEPS keyword research can be done manually and online, or by using automated software, but effective keyword research means finding a good blend of the most popular and least competitive keywords for your pages. SEPS research is defined as the act of determining those keywords/phrases by which people search for a topic of interest on the internet.

  5. Joshua says:

Search engine optimization (SEO) professionals always try hard to optimize their websites. Latent Semantic Indexing is the technology that makes it possible for us to search online and get good required and relevant results from the Internet every single time. It always helps to know the search engine technology that is used by search engines.
