Using Google Webmaster Tools to Assist Search Engine Optimisation

August 6th, 2008 by

Google Webmaster Tools is a fairly comprehensive collection of data relating
to your website and its architecture. There is also some basic information
regarding visitors and how they arrived at your website. While the traffic
information is good it is also too basic to use as a full package for monitoring
SEO performance.
Problems And Errors On Your Site

Webmaster tools help identify any crawling and indexing problems that the
Googlebot might be experiencing when landing on and navigating through your
website. These problems can prevent all of your pages from being indexed properly
and efficiently so this really is good information.
Linking Details

You can also view details of sites that are linking to you, which is excellent
information. Rather than simply give you a count of the number of links, you
can also receive more accurate details. You will be able to view the deep pages
of your site that have attracted the most link attention as well as those sites
that are providing the links. What’s more, you can view the anchor text of
the links to see the keywords that they are helping promote.
Sitemaps

Sitemaps provide a useful method of informing Google that your website exists,
in the first place, and has been updated, on an ongoing basis. If you find
that Googlebot is crawling your site too slowly then you may also be able to
increase the crawl rate at which your site is being hit.
Using Google Webmaster Tools To Aid Your Search Engine Optimisation Efforts

Google Webmaster Tools is just one suite of tools which provides useful information
to help with an SEO campaign. The link information is of particular value,
along with crawling errors and on-page error information. Traffic stats are
very basic, however, and shouldn’t be relied on as your solitary source of
data.

Webmaster tools are great, for someone who understands SEO or indeed programming then this should be easy to not just master but then to impliment the required changes. The issue is many website owners who want high SEO listings do not have a clue about tools, never mind how to then make changes to a code base. If you want to maximise traffic & ROI through Search Engine Optimisation techniques then there are a number of options open to you, which ever option you take be aware of one factor “measure success”, do not sit on your poor listings for 1 year and then think, I need to use someone else, if techniques do not work, agencies should advise on the next course of actions to maximise your SEO, it is all about results and making your agency work hard to get you there.

Hi! I guess this is partially a question and partially a suggestion. Google search results for geographic location have become frustrating for webmasters and SEO experts. It is a known fact that Google search results are tweaked based on the location of the searcher, and this phenomenon is caused due to Google algorithm which produces different search results depending on from where the internet user is searching.

Once I was using a website for Google webmaster and when we check the site via URL, then site was ok but when I set to verify it using Google webmaster tool it didn’t work. I got some kinds of error like file not found. There is an error log on Google word verification link.

Hello! Ever webmasters aiming for a higher ranking on the search engines believe that the key to achieve this is search engine optimization. But Google webmaster tools are very essential things for SEO to get the success. It can even be so complicated which may confuse the optimizers and they may simply surrender. Because of this, webmasters and SEO specialists need some SEO tools to help them keep up with the complex needs of the search engine optimization process.

Hi guys! I have a suggestion for webmasters. Make sure your Meta tags, page descriptions and content in the pages must expound and your Meta tags page title should be relevant. If your all things will be good then it will generate a sitemap for you which are up to 500 pages. Google will have a better idea and easier time trying to crawl your site and your site will achieve a higher position.

My view is that Google webmaster is very important for Search Engine Optimization. Google provides the SEO tool who allows webmasters to compare their websites with the top websites listed in Google, XML sitemap which is the key for quick indexing of your website pages – especially the updated ones, determines the keyword phrases to associate your website, link popularity and many SEO tools.
