Niche SEO

July 20th, 2008 by

Most companies and services operate in a particular niche of a broader category.
While the temptation is to go as broad as possible, in the hope of attracting
more visitors to a website and subsequently making more sales and greater profit,
it rarely works out this way. Certainly not when looking at an SEO campaign.

Broad Keywords

Generally and commonly speaking, broad keywords are not good keywords. A single
word search term usually has various meanings, will require competing with
thousands, hundreds of thousands, or even millions of other pages, and the
resulting traffic is not as targeted as it should be.

Specific Or Niche Keywords

In direct contrast to this, niche keywords have far fewer competing pages
and the resulting traffic is much more targeted. Any ambiguity in the meaning
of the keyword should be lost, or vastly minimised at the very least.

Getting The Best Results

When considering SEO, it’s notable that a lot of sites generate the same levels
of profits from generic keywords as they do from more specific ones. The big
difference is that it will take longer to rank highly and will inevitably cost
more in time or money to get to a position where traffic is at a decent and
regular level.

Using Niche Keywords

Niche keywords can be based on geotargeting, specific brands, or they can
concentrate on the UPS, or Unique Selling Proposition of a website. Thorough
keyword research will normally give some indication of the best niche keywords
while keeping a close eye on traffic stats can help to offer greater clues
as to the most effective and targeted keywords.

Always keep in mind that most forms of advertising take some time to implement. Putting a link for a couple of days and then pulling it down because it is not generating any interest may not be a reflection on the product.

  3. Hadley says:

One of the easiest ways to get involved in affiliate programs is through major advertising agencies. They will offer hundreds and thousands of advertisers to choose between payments and consolidate.

  4. Gregory says:

Affiliate marketing can be exciting and frustrating with many ups and downs, but I’m sure about one thing – it’s never going to be boring!
