Do You Know The Difference Between Good And Bad SEO?

April 8th, 2010 by

Within search engine optimisation, there is a vast amount of information to learn and understand. Different SEO firms and business owners extract different pieces of SEO information from what is available and use this to help them to develop and run an SEO campaign. This means approaches to SEO can vary significantly and therefore the results achieved through the running of an SEO campaign can also vary greatly.

Search engine optimisation can make a big difference to your business but only if used correctly. To be able to do this, you must have a basic understanding of the difference between good and bad SEO. If you are hoping to achieve impressive SEO results, good SEO is what you need.

Search engine optimisation is generally divided into two different categories which have very different approaches to how an SEO campaign is run.

White hat SEO is the use of ethical SEO techniques. These methods follow the guidelines provided by the search engines and others operating within the search environment.

Black hat SEO involves the use of unethical search methods which are designed to manipulate and dupe the search engines. It is only white hat SEO which is considered acceptable by professional SEO consultants and by a large number of online business owners too. However, there are still some involved in black hat search engine optimisation. Those which are, jeopardise the future of their company.

It is not only how ethical your SEO campaign which determines the quality of SEO you are using and whether it can be considered to be good or not. It also depends on how suitable the SEO methods you are using are for your business. Each company is different and requires an individual SEO campaign. Research must be carried out to identify which SEO techniques a business requires within its campaign and then these methods are what should be used. If your business is using the most suitable and appropriate SEO techniques available, this is good SEO.

Another way good SEO is identified is by the results it is able to achieve. Even if thorough research and contemplation has been carried out during the development of an SEO campaign, success is not assured. You must judge the quality of your SEO campaign by the results you see. If your SEO campaign does show signs of benefiting your business then this is encouraging and can signify you are using good SEO.

It is vital business owners use only good SEO when running a campaign. This means they use white hat SEO methods identified as suitable for their business and methods which provide them with positive results.
