Blogging, the SEO way

Search engine optimization encompasses every part of having a webpage and a website on the internet. This point cannot possibly be stressed enough as there are so many websites that tend to either ignore this fact or not realise it at all. When we talk about optimization it takes your images, your web design, your anchor text, domain name and more into context.

Yes, content forms a part of it all, but it isn’t everything. Now, having a blog is just as well you have an extra website. You need to implement just as much SEO with your blog as you do with the rest of your web pages. Many people tend not to do this and end up wondering why they are not getting the desired results from their blogs. A business blog is a great way to promote your business and attract visitors. However, it will do none of that unless it is properly optimized.

Content and keywords

If content is king on your website, it is also king on your blog, never forget that content is king regardless of where it is on the internet. Without decent content, nobody will want to read your blog. It is all good and well to mention your business or company in the blog and do as much promotion as possible but don’t overdo it. Going overboard turns what is supposed to be an informative and conversational blog into a blatant advertisement.

Secondly, target very specific keywords and keyword phrases to up the SEO of your blog. Research the keywords that are being used by your competitors and within your industry. Secondly, keyword research does not stop there, so don’t even think of going to sit on your laurels yet. Next, you need to research your target market to see what keywords they are using to search for your website. Thorough research is the only way to amass enough knowledge about your keywords in order to make the right, informed decision about choosing specific words to use.

Back links

When you look at optimizing your blog you need to take back links into consideration. Back links are links to your website that are planted on other websites. These links guide visitors from a sister website to your own website if they are interested in what you have to offer. However, not all back links offer you the same value, they are not all equal.

Some back links are more valuable than others are to the SEO of your business blog. You want to invest in only the best quality back links from reputable and equally or more popular websites. This is the only way to ensure that your back links add value to your optimization. Back links prove your website’s worth, trustworthiness and interest value to the search engines. The more quality back links you have, the better your SERP ranking will be.

Search engine optimization is impotent to your blog; it is just as important to your blog as it is to your website. Never neglect to optimize your blog; it will be your blog’s downfall.
