Effective keywords attract the visitors to visit on other pages of the particular site, if the visitors are living the site without visiting other pages. It means the keywords are not effective.

Make sure you use the tools available to measure the success of your landing pages, Google Analytics is free and has a great reporting suite, this link will tell you a little more relating to the reports available: http://www.google.com/support/googleanalytics/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=60127 my suggestion is to monitor bounce rates on your landing pages, or indeed pages that have good rankings within the search engines, many website owners will not even look into this level of data, yet scratch there head to wonder why the are not getting orders or leads when it comes to Search Engine Optimisation landing page testing. Using bounce data will tell you the % of people that leave your landing page upon entry, you can then make changes to tehse pages and measure your success, find the optimum bounce rate and maximise your conversions, SEO techniques if you use a good agency will deliver you more relevant traffic, the whole purpose of Search Engine Optimization, what you then do with this traffic is a very very important factor.
