Popularity is all important when it comes to your business profile online. A popular website means plenty of traffic and repeat traffic. In Search Engine Optimisation terms, popularity is all about links; other websites linking to yours (known as backlinks) which helps to build authority with search engines as they see that other respected online organisations are prepared to recommend you. Improving the number of quality backlinks to your website can have a major effect on your page rank and move you up the search engine results pages.

Quality is always worth more than quantity when it comes to backlinks. Having hundreds of irrelevant links won’t help your Search Engine Optimization efforts, but having a handful of links from industry related, well-respected and established websites certainly will.
