SEO Content and Social Media

Social media sites are at present very popular and online marketers have started trying to figure out how to make money and attract traffic from them. Yet the question of whether SEO should be done first or whether a social media site should be done first, is relevant.

Search engines can be automated and social media sites cant, not easily anyway. Search engine marketing can generate leads and traffic all day long with little effort once the system is up and running and is working for you.

Yet there are those who say that social media sites makes for better traffic and the get more traffic, and depending on the market this may be true, yet if you are going to benefit you have to work at it all day long, every day. The work never ends.

It is perhaps better to first build your core traffic with SEO and then move onto social media sites, you can still use all the technology that generates traffic, yet it is better to focus on building consistent traffic from an automated source first and once you have this then you can focus on social media sites. If you reverse the process you won’t have time to do either.

The process of SEO dictates that without good content your website will flag, or die. If a search engine hasn’t indexed you and nobody can find you then you need to revisit your content and in order to draw people to your content social media offers an effective ways to get it your content noticed.

How I does this is much like a social gathering where people of like interests meet and discuss topics that interest them. In an internet setting someone sees your site or receives your newsletter or blog and they in turn mention it to someone else on their social media site which can start the ball rolling.

SEO content, good relevant, fresh, unique, interactive content will generate a buzz and how this buzz is shared is through blogs, links or social media sites. So it stands to reason that SEO content and social media sites attract each other naturally.

Tips for achieving harmony between content and social distribution

Start by creating fantastic content as SEO it is about humans who read it, so building a reputation for quality; interesting content should be at the top of your marketing strategy list. Build links as this will allow access across the web to other like minded sites and will create more visibility for your site. Write articles and spread them around and bookmark your content too. Include blogs and newsletters as social bookmarking sites allow the sharing of your content.

Start getting social as this will help promote your business. Create a fan page for your company and use social media sites to share upcoming events and information. Users of these social media sites will pass your SEO content on if it stands up to their expectations.

Using social media sites as a source for distributing your SEO content will make your recognisable in your niche market yet no matter what it is that you are marketing, you will get exposure for your site and you will increase your traffic.
