Don’t Go Twitter Mad

August 20th, 2010 by

Twitter is now an extremely popular social website. It is visited by millions of users located throughout the world each day and is being used for many purposes. Internet users like Twitter because it enables them to share information and follow tweets posted by others. Businesses like Twitter because it enables them to communicate with an audience. They can provide them with relevant information and get their attention and respect by doing so.

Twitter is now playing an influential part in the search engine optimisation campaigns of many companies. When an SEO campaign is being run by SEO professionals, they can monitor the Twitter activity and ensure only appropriate tweets are made at appropriate times. If you are inexperienced in SEO and are running your own SEO campaign, using Twitter effectively can be more challenging.

A common mistake made by site owners using Twitter for the purpose of SEO is that they become obsessed with it and devote too much time and energy to the Twitter community. It is not a case of the more you contribute to your Twitter profile the better. You have to be selective and careful not to flood the community with your posts. Many business owners are eager to share their information and so create new tweets incessantly. The result is their audience quickly becomes bored, their posts are of little value and others begin to lose interest in the business all together.

Twitter is about sharing useful and appropriate information so others enjoy reading your tweets and find them helpful too. You need to ensure this is the case and to plan your tweets carefully. Some believe tweets must be spontaneous and it can be advantageous to create posts of this kind at certain times but Twitter will not be productive for your business if all of your tweets are written like this.

You must have a vague idea of the content you want to include in your tweets. Set out a time you want this content to have been included in your posts by and stick to it. This will help to keep you on track and will ensure important issues and information you believe your Twitter audience will find useful is included in the content you create.

It is also beneficial to set a limit for how many tweets you make a day. Of course, circumstances may alter this number exactly but doing this will give you an idea of how many tweets you should have. This will help to stop you from tweeting excessively and unnecessarily.

Twitter can be highly useful as part of an SEO campaign but it is important to use it appropriately. SEO experts can help you to do this effectively.
